Now seems like heavyweight division looks great.
UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is expected to retire from mixed martial arts (MMA) after he turns 40 in March.
Daniel Cormier is scheduled to face Brock Lesnar in a few months but seems like this match will not happen. As Dana White said Lesnar sign multiple contract deal with WWE. So, the possibility of this match is nearly low.
In another case, Daniel Cormier will fight Stipe Miocic for a championship rematch.
Daniel Cormier has another choice as he will fight against Jon Jones in a potential Cormier-Jones trilogy remains to be seen. Cormier down 0-2 to his longtime rival. he also vacated the 205-pound strap before “Bones” returned at UFC 232 and captured the belt by smashing Alexander Gustafsson.
UFC president Dana White, wants Cormier to postpone his retirement long enough to meet Jones at heavyweight. But if “DC” sets sail, then training partner Cain Velasquez is willing to step in and take his place.
“I hope so,” Velasquez told MMA Fighting. “I’ll try to make that happen.”
Cain Velasquez agrees to fight Jon Jones if Daniel Cormier retires.
For those who don’t know, Cain Velasquez is set to kick off his latest comeback tour on Feb. 17 against Francis Ngannou at the UFC’s inaugural showcase on ESPN.
Whereas Jon Jones will defend his light heavyweight title against Anthony Smith at UFC 235 on March 2nd.
