The passing of Ring of Honor legend Jay Briscoe has brought great grief throughout the whole wrestling community. On Tuesday, Tony Khan, the president of AEW and ROH, shared the heartbreaking news that Jamin Pugh—true Briscoe’s name—had passed suddenly. Khan continued by praising The Briscoes for their years of dedication to the Ring of Honor. A promise to “do anything we can to support his family” was also made by him.
Although there was no early indication of a cause of death, later sources indicated that Jay had been in an automobile accident in Laurel, Delaware. The deadly accident is supported by a police report of the incident, however, the victims’ names were withheld.
Given Briscoe’s illustrious career in the wrestling industry, many fans and wrestling personalities sent their condolences and paid their respects to him on Twitter.
“Jay Briscoe was a fantastic brother, father, and man in addition to being one of the toughest individuals I’ve ever had the honor of sharing a ring with. I’m very grateful that I had the chance to get to know him and wrestle him so frequently. I love you, Jay, rest in peace,” tweeted Christopher Daniels, a fellow Ring of Honor legend.
