According to Michael Benson of boxing superstar, Gervonta Davis was reportedly arrested on Tuesday in South Florida on an allegation of domestic abuse.
In connection with an alleged domestic violence incident, Gervonta Davis was detained and booked into jail overnight on charges of battery causing bodily harm. On January 7th, he will confront Hector Luis Garcia, and on February 16th, he will stand trial on 14 counts of alleged hit-and-run from 2020.

His most recent legal problem occurs soon before his Jan. 7 battle in Washington against Dominican contender Hector Garcia. Gervonta Davis will defend his WBA lightweight championship in the match for the fourth time.
Although it is currently unknown if that will go ahead, it is reasonable to assume that Davis’ arrest could result in a probable cancellation of that match. Not to mention the fact that he will also go on trial in February for a car accident that injured four people and had 14 charges against him. According to Dan Rafael, Gervonta Davis was in Miami getting ready for the bout with Hector Garcia when the arrest was made.
According to the department’s web records, Davis was detained by the Parkland division of the Broward County Sheriff’s Department and was still being held without bail as of early Wednesday. Davis had been practicing for the fight in Miami.
Davis was charged with battery inflicting bodily harm in a case that the police characterized as domestic violence, according to the website’s records. There were no further details offered.
In addition to his impending fight with Hector Garcia, Gervonta Davis is also set to face Ryan Garcia in a considerably more lucrative bout in April in Las Vegas. 28-year-old Gervonta Davis has a 27-0 record, with 25 knockout victories.
