Currently a forward with Paris Saint-Germain in France’s Ligue 1, as well as the national squad, Kylian Mbappé is a professional footballer in his home country. Mbappé is known for his dribbling skills, lightning-fast pace, and clinical finishing, earning him a reputation as one of the best players in the world and reportedly the highest paid.
Mbappé started his professional club career in 2015 with Monaco, when he won the Ligue 1 championship. He was born in Paris and grew up in the nearby suburb of Bondy. Mbappé became the most expensive teenager and second most expensive player when he signed with Paris Saint-Germain for an eventual permanent transfer in 2017 at the age of 18. The deal was worth €180 million.
Kylian Mbappe’s massive new deal with Paris Saint-Germain has been broken down in terms of money. The Frenchman was widely speculated to join Real Madrid in the summer, but his present club offered him an irresistible contract extension.
The interview, which ran in The New York Times on Tuesday, features him discussing the deal at length. The New York Times reports that Mbappe’s contract is worth $250 million (or 251.46 million euros) over the course of three seasons (or around $83 million per year).
The New York Times reports that Mbappe received a signing-on bonus of around 125 million dollars, the largest payment ever made to an out-of-contract player in the history of the sport and that some headlines following his decision to stay with PSG claimed the money from Qatar was too much to resist.

But he emphasized in the interview that the massive sums of money on offer were not the deciding factor. Because, he reasoned, “I’m this kind of player everywhere I go, and wherever I go, I’m going to get money.”
Mbappe was reportedly taken aback by French president Emmanuel Macron’s personal efforts to keep him at PSG and, by extension, in France’s elite league. Mbappe described the conversation with the president
As “something wild, truly something crazy,” adding that he had “never dreamed” he would speak with the president regarding his future. He pleaded with me, “I want you to stay, I don’t want you to leave now as you are so vital to the country.”
The Paris Saint-Germain faithful booed Mbappé before PSG’s 2021-22 home opener against Strasbourg because of transfer speculations linking him to Real Madrid. Mbappé assisted on all four of Paris’s goals as they won 4-2 in the end. On October 16, six days after he hadn’t scored yet this season, he helped lead his team to a 4-2 victory over Brest on the road.
On the 29th of August, Lionel Messi made his highly anticipated PSG debut. The following day, the Rouge-et-Bleu defeated Reims 2-0 courtesy of two goals from Kylian Mbappé. Mbappé scored in a 2-1 loss to Man City in the Champions League on November 24 at the City of Manchester Stadium.
In a Champions League match on the 7th of December, he scored twice to lead his team to a 4-1 victory over Club Brugge at home. As a result of scoring those two goals, he became the youngest player in Champions League history to score 30 and 31 goals.
