The terms of a lifetime endorsement deal between the Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and Under Armour are reported “almost locked in,” with the deal potentially being worth more than $1 billion.
The contract talks with Curry, whose current deal runs through 2024, were reported by Rolling Stone’s Matt Sullivan on Monday despite some conflict between the two-time NBA MVP and Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank since he joined the brand in 2013.
As for the company’s dedication to his namesake sneaker, in the beginning, Curry stated, “there wasn’t nearly a grasp of what it takes to manage a business like that effectively.” In other words: “I was very enraged.”
Also, a source of tension between Curry and Plank is the founder’s vocal support for Trump for president. Plank may have told Sullivan there’s “zero beef,” but the former Warriors stalwart may disagree.

You can’t fly by the seat of your pants when you represent a corporation of that size, Curry added. The eight-time All-Star said he considered leaving Under Armour in 2018 if the company didn’t agree to spin out the Curry Brand in a manner similar to Nike’s Jordan Brand.
To express his anger, Curry insists he need not yell. And that, as they say, is the cherry on top. The fact that he has broached the subject of a lifetime contract with the corporation indicates that ties have, at the very least, improved in the four years since the establishment of the individual brand.
Meanwhile, in June, Curry was a major reason why the Warriors won their fourth title since 2015 and he was named Finals MVP for the first time. It followed another great regular season in which he played in 64 games and averaged 25.5 points, 6.3 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 threes, and 1.3 steals.
With a new four-year, $215.4 million contract on the horizon with Golden State, a hefty extension with Under Armour would add to his already impressive on-court earnings of over $254.7 million. In the first game of the 2022–23 NBA season, Stephen Curry and the Warriors will take on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on October 18.
