On the eve of the World Cup, Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo mutually decided to end Ronaldo’s contract. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is a free agent entering the January transfer window, and he has been linked to several teams, including Chelsea.

Already this season, Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford had been heavily speculated upon, but a revealing TV interview with Piers Morgan was the final straw. The TV attack on the club came as a shock to United, and the club’s superstar player, a Portuguese national, has since expressed feelings of betrayal.

After consulting legal counsel, United released Ronaldo from his contract with the club. Now that he is a free agent at age 37, it appears that he is close to signing with a new team.

The Mirror reports that Cristiano Ronaldo is scheduled to get a physical at Al-Nassr before making a move that will increase his annual salary to an unbelievable £173 million.

Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, reportedly hasn’t been able to find the Portugal captain a European suitor, prompting him to consider options elsewhere. After being offered a staggering £173 million per year, Al-Nassr is currently in first place.

Since Ronaldo and his advisors have already been provided with lodging, the Saudis are optimistic that they will be able to complete the move. To make the most of the upcoming transfer window, they hope to have Ronaldo’s signing announced before the end of the month.

Allegedly, Ronaldo and the club have already agreed to the ‘broad terms’ of a contract, leaving the final decision up to the player. It is expected that Ronaldo will earn a significant amount from image rights deals, in addition to his weekly salary of £830,000.

He would be given an “outsized role” in the management of Al-Nassr, including the authority to appoint the manager and a part in Saudi Arabia’s bid for the 2030 World Cup.

Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr has made significant progress toward signing Ronaldo, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano. The transfer guru claims that the Portugal star has been offered a contract that runs until 2025, but he is still waiting for offers from European clubs.

Members of the Eintracht Frankfurt support staff have further elaborated on this by detailing the job offer he received from the club. Axel Hellmann, a member of the club’s executive board, said, “He was even offered to us,” and Philip Holzer, the club’s supervisory board chairman, said, “I have the feeling he was offered to every Champions League club.”

Al Nassr has reportedly offered Ronaldo a remarkable £176m per year contract, but Ronaldo has yet to respond. A move to the Middle East may be the only option left.

It’s easy to see why Cristiano Ronaldo would prefer to remain on the European continent after enjoying such a fruitful career there, what with the opportunity to continue playing in the Champions League.

Even though Eintracht Frankfurt was reportedly offered the 37-year-old, it appears that interest from clubs still competing in Europe’s top competition is waning. Axel Hellmann, CEO of the champion Europa League team from last year, told Dazn: “To top it all off, he was made available to us. Chair of the board of directors Philip Holzer added, “Each club in the Champions League probably had an offer on the table for him.
