The Washington Commanders’ nice surprise this season has been running back Brian Robinson. Robinson appears to be a player both the Commanders and fantasy football managers should rely on as they both try to advance to the postseason.
Robinson has performed admirably in 2022. He has played in 11 games, starting nine of them, and has run for 710 yards and two touchdowns on 181 attempts. The existence of Antonio Gibson has been one of his major issues, at least in terms of fantasy. Gibson has run for 546 yards on 149 occasions, scoring three times.
But it doesn’t seem like Gibson will matter in Week 17. He was unable to practice on Thursday due to knee and foot issues. Gibson missed Wednesday’s practice as well, making it uncertain whether he will play against the Browns in Week 17.
Brian Robinson would get the majority of touches if Gibson were to be sidelined. His most attempts in a game up to this point in his career occurred in Week 10 against the Eagles. Robinson carried the ball 26 times for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Robinson’s performance as a workhorse back might help fantasy owners win their league. Robinson would be crucial to the Commanders’ postseason hopes. If the Washington Redskins defeat the Browns and all three of the Lions, Seahawks, and Packers lose, they will automatically qualify for the playoffs.
Robinson was selected in the third round by Washington. He was shot during the preseason, which caused his season to be delayed. Robinson, however, may have a chance to demonstrate exactly how effective a running back he may be on the largest stage as fantasy owners and the Commanders depend on him.
