Alvin Kamara Injury

The New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings will meet in London, England for Week 4 of the NFL season. The time difference necessitates beginning the practice sessions earlier than usual, but everything else remains the same.

With a rib ailment, Alvin Kamara had to take it easy throughout practice. Before last week’s game against the Carolina Panthers, he was getting ice on his ribs to prevent further injury.

Alvin Kamara Injury

Kamara was injured last week but played for the majority of the game before being taken out of the game to have further treatment. He had 15 carries for 61 yards, and two of his seven targets were caught for an additional 12 yards.

Since quarterback Jameis Winston is also hurt, Kamara has fewer good targets to work with. Kamara should be relied upon to start Sunday’s game against the Vikings if he is able to put in a full workout this week.

Mark Ingram stands to gain the most if Kamara continues to be limited or is declared out of the lineup. Veteran RB got 5 carries for 18 yards and a TD but was never thrown to. If Kamara can’t go, Ingram will start at running back, making him a potentially intriguing flex play.

Career

Kamara was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after recording 128 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 receptions and 51 rushing yards in a 13-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Kamara also became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 3,000 yards in both receiving and rushing when he surpassed the milestone in the game. Kamara broke the record, which had been held by Roger Craig, by two games.

Kamara returned from an injury that had kept him out of action for four games in Week 14 and led the Saints to a 30-9 victory over the New York Jets on the strength of 27 rushing yards, 120 total yards, and a score. He finished the season strong with 30 carries for 146 rushing yards and a 30-20 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
