Anthony Rizzo Injury Update

Born on August 8, 1989, Anthony Vincent Rizzo plays first base for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). Former Major League Baseball (MLB) teams he has played for include the Padres and Cubs.

His resume includes three appearances in the All-Star Game. As a result of his work in the community, he is frequently named as one of the MLB’s most deserving players for the Heart and Hustle award.

The New York Yankees’ offense has been stagnant for weeks, and losing their two left-handed hitters won’t help. On Tuesday, manager Aaron Boone revealed that first baseman Anthony Rizzo would be going on the 10-day injured list due to a back injury. Infielder Andrew Benintendi broke his hamate bone over the weekend and was placed on the disabled list.

Anthony Rizzo Injury Update

The 33-year-old Rizzo didn’t play baseball since last Wednesday. His career has been marked by recurring back problems, which typically only keep him out of action for a few days annually. This past weekend, back pain became so severe that an epidural was necessary. Despite the Yankees’ hopes, Rizzo will not be returning to the lineup this week.

“To be honest, I no longer suspect a back issue is to blame. After the epidural, all he has to worry about are headaches and the like. Doctor’s orders for him to rest have not yet been lifted “As Boone mentioned on Tuesday. “In other words, after we get him rolling, there will be a few days of ramp-up time. What we need to do now is get him to that stage. As a result, he’s been feeling a bit frustrated about that for the past several days.”

New York’s backup first baseman, super-utility man DJ LeMahieu, is now out with a toe injury, so the Yankees are reluctant to use him frequently. Thus, the team has decided to replace Rizzo with veteran Texas Rangers first baseman Ronald Guzmán. Guzmán has hit.260/.357/.466 with 12 home runs in 90 Triple-A games this season.

Rizzo has a.225/.339/.493 slash line and 30 home run this year. A total of 36 home runs have been hit by New York’s left-handed batters, with 15 coming off the bat of the injured Matt Carpenter and 12 coming from the bat of the traded Joey Gallo.

Carpenter is currently in a walking boot after breaking his foot, and his return this season is questionable. The Yankees have won just two of their last five games, but they still have a five-game lead in the AL East and a record of 81-54 heading into Tuesday.

Anthony Rizzo Injury Update

The New York Yankees acquired Rizzo in exchange for Alexander Vizcaino and Kevin Alcántara plus cash. His debut with the Yankees was on July 30 against the Miami Marlins.

Rizzo had an immediate impact after only two games with the team, becoming the only player in franchise history to go 4-for-5 with at least two hits in each game, hit two solo home runs in both games, draw three walks, and score five total runs. He hit a home run in each of his first two games with the Yankees and became the franchise’s first player to reach base eight times (including a hit by pitch).

In a game against the Baltimore Orioles on August 4, Rizzo blasted a solo home run, giving him the first RBI in his first six games with the Yankees. He joined Jim Spencer (1973), Jim Wynn (1974), and Bobby Murcer (1975) as the only other Major League

Baseball players to record at least 5 RBIs in each of their first 6 games with a new team (1977). With a home run off the Toronto Blue Jays on September 30, Rizzo reached the 250 home run milestone in his career. In the sixth inning, he hit a solo home run against Robbie Ray. This made him the first Yankees player to accomplish this feat since Derek Jeter.
