Ed Oliver Injury Update

Edward Oliver, born on December 12, 1997, is a defensive tackle with the Buffalo Bills of the NFL (NFL). Following his stellar football career at the University of Houston, the Buffalo Bills selected him in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

After leaving Thursday’s season opener against the Los Angeles Rams with an ankle injury, Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver told reporters that he doesn’t think the injury is significant.

In the second quarter, Oliver was hurt when the Rams took a risk on fourth down. After limping off the field on the second drive of the third quarter, he eventually returned. Picked ninth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, Oliver is a crucial member of the defensive line for the Bills, who were the preseason favorites to win the Super Bowl.

Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic stated that Oliver was seen leaving the game in a walking boot. For Bill’s past season, Oliver recorded 41 tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble. The score of the game was 31–10 in favor of the Bills.

In 2016, Oliver’s true freshman year at Houston, he was thrust into the starting lineup. In the regular season, he played in all 12 games, making 60 tackles and five sacks. He became the first freshman to ever win the Bill Willis Trophy after being named the winner.

By Oliver’s sophomore year (2017), he had already earned the Outland Trophy as the best interior lineman in the country and been named to the Walter Camp All-America first team. After Oliver’s junior year in 2018, he opted to forego his final year of high school and instead prepare for the 2019 NFL Draft.
