Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery Exits The Game Because of Knee and Ankle Injuries!

Coach Matt Eberflus said running back David Montgomery’s prognosis is “excellent” after he left the Bears’ 23-20 win over the Houston Texans in the first quarter with injuries to his right knee and ankle.

Positively, “he’s going to be day-to-day,” as Eberflus put it. “Tomorrow, we can assess his current situation more thoroughly. This is unquestionably a good thing.”

With 8:44 left in the first quarter and the Bears driving from the Houston 35-yard line, Montgomery was rolled up under during pass protection.

The trainers checked on the fourth-year running back on the field, and he eventually made his way off the field with some difficulty. Montgomery was taken to the sideline medical tent for further evaluation before being taken to the locker room.

The Bears said Montgomery’s comeback was questionable but never said he wouldn’t play again. It was determined by the team that he had suffered two distinct injuries, but Eberflus would not elaborate.

We’ll only have a look at it for the time being since it’s only his lower leg, he said. There are a few things happening, but we’ll have a look at them.

Khalil Herbert, who took over for Montgomery, ended up with 20 carries for 157 yards and two scores. Herbert claimed Montgomery was in “excellent spirits” when he texted him after the game to tell him he had dedicated the victory to him.

Tell him that it’s for him, Herbert remarked. One must keep calm and carry one’s weight so that one’s team can achieve victory.

The Bears gained 281 total running yards, their most in a game since 1984 when they gained more than 283 against the Dallas Cowboys. Chicago has averaged 187 rushing yards per game through three games this season.

Byron Pringle, a wide receiver, also departed the game early due to injury, this time to his calf. He was last spotted leaving the field on his way back to the dressing room.
