The Eagles may already be without Lane Johnson for the rest of the regular season, and now Ian Rapoport reports that Avonte Maddox may also be out for a while.
While Darius Slay and nofollow are two of the best outside cornerbacks in the league, it is Avonte Maddox, one of the best slot cornerbacks in the league, who really drives the Philadelphia Eagles secondary.
After sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott on the first play of the second quarter, Maddox was taken out of the game after the team fell by a score of 40-34. After the slot cornerback was injured, Dak Prescott threw a 34-yard touchdown throw to CeeDee Lamb before he could be taken off the field.
Maddox, who is 26 years old, has appeared in eight games this year. However, he has dealt with multiple ailments and has lost significant time.

Considering Maddox’s absence, Philadelphia is expected to turn to Josiah Scott in the slot, though C.J. Gardner-return Johnson’s is a possibility and Reed Blankenship has been outstanding at safety.
