Kyle Fuller Injury

American football cornerback Kyle Brandon Fuller (born February 16, 1992) plays for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL (NFL). He played collegiate football at Virginia Tech before being selected by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Injury

The injury occurred in the final two minutes of Baltimore’s 24-9 victory over the Jets, and it was Fuller’s first game with the team for which he was born and raised. Head coach John Harbaugh said Monday’s MRI would shed more light on Fuller’s condition and recovery time.

If the MRI results come back positive tomorrow, then we’ll know for sure,” Harbaugh added. We can at least hold out hope there. While attempting to tackle Elijah Moore, a wide receiver for the Jets, Fuller slipped and fell, clutching his knee in obvious discomfort. Moore pushed off on Fuller to get open, and a touchdown catch that he otherwise would have made was called back because of the penalty.

Soon, though, Fuller’s teammates gathered around him out of worry, and he was helped into the locker room. Since Marcus Peters (knee) was unable to play against the Jets, Fuller started in the starting lineup opposite Marlon Humphrey.

Fuller has played in the NFL for eight years, making him a veteran, and he has been named to the Pro Bowl twice. In 2018, while playing with the Chicago Bears, he was named to the first team All-Pro. Fuller, a prep standout from Mount Saint Joseph who was selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by Virginia Tech, had 19 interceptions, 441 tackles, and 86 passes defended coming into the season.

Fuller and his three brothers, Vincent, Corey, and Kendall, are members of one of the most famous sports families in Baltimore. Not until Kyle’s offseason signing had any Fuller played for the Ravens. He was excited to make his regular-season debut next week against the Dolphins at M&T Bank Site, the same stadium where he had watched Ravens preseason games as a kid.

When Fuller will be able to return at this point is uncertain. During Fuller’s absence, the likes of Brandon Stephens, Jalyn Armour-Davis, and Pepe Williams, all of whom were selected in the fourth round of the draft, could see greater playing time.

Career

Fuller picked off Joe Flacco’s ball intended for Emmanuel Sanders in week 2’s 16-14 win over the Denver Broncos for his first interception of the season. Fuller picked off Case Keenum in week 3’s 31-15 victory over the Washington Redskins. Fuller led the club with seven tackles and also picked off Philip Rivers with an interception in week eight’s 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

In 2019, Fuller finished with three interceptions and twelve pass breakups. The 82 total tackles he made were a personal best. He was selected as an alternate for the 2020 Pro Bowl on January 9, and he was eventually added to the roster to replace an injured Jalen Ramsey.
