marco Reus Injury

Marco Reus (German: [mako s]; born May 31, 1989) is a professional footballer for the German national team. He typically operates in an attacking midfielder or forward role. He is the team captain for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and a member of the German national team.

Reus played with Borussia Dortmund when he was young. He first signed with Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2009, and his best season came in 2012 when he helped the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League by scoring 18 goals and assisting on 12 more in the Bundesliga.

Injury

The Borussia Dortmund captain, Marco Reus, is in jeopardy of missing Germany’s next international event. Reus, 33, was taken off the field on a stretcher during the first half of Saturday’s Ruhr derby between Dortmund and Schalke with what appeared to be a significant ankle injury.

After a tough duel for the ball with Florian Flick of Schalke, Reus’s right ankle bent awkwardly and he broke down in tears. After receiving treatment for his knee, Flick was allowed to complete the game, and American Gio Reyna came on to replace Reus.

Germany’s head coach, Hansi Flick, had high hopes for Reus, an offensive midfielder, and had selected him in the team’s roster for future games against Hungary and England.

The event kicks off on November 20 in Qatar. Three days after playing Japan in Doha, Germany plays in Al Khor against Spain. Germany’s final Group E game is against Costa Rica on December 1.

Throughout his career, Reus has been sidelined by injuries at the worst possible times. While Germany was on their way to winning the World Cup in 2014, he suffered an ankle injury in a warm-up game and was forced to miss the tournament. In 2016, he was sidelined by a groin injury and missed the European Championship. After a great season with Dortmund, he sat out the next year’s European Championship to rest before playing in Germany’s futile World Cup defense.

Unfortunately, the severity of Reus’ injury was not immediately clear from Dortmund. After receiving care in the locker room, the athlete was scheduled to be sent to the hospital before halftime. Reus has scored 15 times for Germany in 48 appearances.

Reus became a regular component of Joachim Löw’s squad, contributing to five goals and three assists in just six games. Although he was originally selected to play for Germany at the World Cup, he was forced to withdraw on June 6 after suffering an ankle injury in a 6-1 friendly victory over Armenia.

In the first international match after the World Cup, Germany faced Argentina on September 3, 2014, and Reus made his return to the national team. Unfortunately, the team that they had defeated in the World Cup final two months prior went on to defeat the champs, 4-2 in the end. Reus made four appearances and scored once during qualification for UEFA Euro 2016, however, he was not chosen to participate due to a groin injury.
