Buffalo Bills Safety Micah Hyde Will Miss The Remainder of The Season Due To A Neck Injury!

Bills safety Micah Hyde stated on Saturday that he will miss the remainder of the 2022 season due to a neck injury.

This past Saturday, Hyde was formally transferred to the injured reserve list. Over the course of the week, he missed all but one session and made only a brief appearance in the locker room.

“Sincerely appreciate all the kindness and help you’ve given me and my loved ones. I can’t believe it, “This past Saturday, Hyde sent a tweet. “We adore you, Bills Mafia! #23in23”

Jack Bechta, Hyde’s agent, tweeted earlier on Saturday that his client, who is currently under contract with the Bills until the 2020 season, is expected to return to full health in 2023.

When queried during the week about Hyde’s injury, Coach Sean McDermott remained tight-lipped.

McDermott said on Friday that both cornerback Dane Jackson and safety Carlos Hyde “seem to be moving around, walking, or in the building here.” Jackson is also recovering from a neck injury. “They are actively working to better themselves every day they are inside. Not even close to being possible to make it to this game. Besides that, I don’t have anything else to tell you right now. At this point, all we need to do is help them perfect their rhythm and timing.”

It’s not the first time Hyde has had neck trouble; in 2015, when playing for the Green Bay Packers, he did so during a preseason game.

Safety Hyde will be replaced by Jaquan Johnson beginning with Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East. Safety A source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Jordan Poyer (foot questionable) will not play against the Dolphins. Safety If Poyer is unable to play, Damar Hamlin would take his starting spot.

Jackson’s absence will exacerbate the secondary’s problems. A first-round choice this year, cornerback Kaiir Elam will start his NFL career alongside fellow rookie Christian Benford. They’ve been taking turns starting opposite Jackson at cornerback.

Since joining the Bills as free agents in 2017, Hyde and Poyer have established themselves as one of the league’s top safety duos. During that time, Hyde has missed just two games in the regular season, and the two of them have started 79 games together. That’s more than any other safety combo in the NFL over the past six seasons (Darnell Savage/Adrian Amos, Packers, 48).

NextGen Stats shows that since the beginning of the 2019 season, Hyde has allowed two throwing touchdowns while recording seven interceptions as the nearest defender in coverage. During that time, when being targeted as the closest defender, he has allowed the fourth-lowest passer rating (57.7) (minimum 75 targets).

Hyde has made 363 tackles and 14 interceptions during his stint with the Bills. He also has 3 forced fumbles, 3 sacks, and 1 sack return for a touchdown. After being picked by Green Bay in the fifth round in 2013 out of Iowa, he spent the first four years of his professional career with the team.
