Miles Sanders

Sanders, Miles Adam (born May 1, 1997), better known by his nickname “Boobie Miles,” plays running back for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). After four years of collegiate football at Penn State, he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Jalen Reagor was traded to Minnesota. Former third-round pick and linebacker Davion Taylor was waived. Former Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book was claimed off waivers from the New Orleans Saints.

Veteran safety Anthony Harris accepted a demotion to the practice squad after being released a day earlier. Perhaps lost in all the breaking news was the return of Jason Kelce to practice, and, oh yeah, newly acquired safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson was also on the practice fields.

Also back at practice was CB James Bradberry, who had missed more than a week with a groin injury. Running back Miles Sanders, however, continues to miss practice with a hamstring injury. It’s been more than two weeks since he has practiced.

Sanders had a season full of ups and downs in 2021. Though he had been the team’s primary back at the outset, as the offense shifted its emphasis to the pass, Sanders found himself on the sidelines more often.

Sanders ran the ball 57 times for 270 yards and zero touchdowns through the first six games. Sanders’s sprained ankle happened in week 7 when the squad played the Las Vegas Raiders.  Sanders missed three weeks of action because of this injury. He got back just in time for the team’s week 11 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Sanders resumed his prominent role in week 13 against the New York Jets, rushing for a season-high 24 times and a game-high 120 yards. Sanders had his season high in rushing yards in week 15 as he rushed for 131 yards on 18 runs against the Washington Football Team.

Sanders’ hot streak was cut short when, in week 16 against the New York Giants, he broke a bone in his hand and missed the Eagles’ final two games of the regular season. In the end, Sanders had 137 carries for 754 yards and no touchdowns in 2021. Also, in 12 games, he hauled 26 passes for 158 yards.
