Fans of the New Orleans Pelicans are anxiously awaiting news regarding Zion Williamson’s injury. Due to a groin injury, the All-Star forward was forced to leave Monday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and was unable to return. Unfortunately, Pels fans won’t appreciate what NBA expert Adrian Wojnarowski had to say about their superstar’s future prospects.
Zion has a hamstring strain, according to Woj, and will now have to miss a significant amount of time:
Zion Williamson, a star for the New Orleans Pelicans, is anticipated to miss several weeks due to a hamstring problem, sources told ESPN. Williamson had an MRI today, according to Woj’s tweet. Zion will miss at least three weeks, according to a corresponding update from the Pelicans, after which he will be reevaluated.
For the Pelicans, who have themselves experienced a bit of a roller coaster over the previous few weeks, this is devastating news. Early in December, the Pels embarked on a seven-game winning streak, which was followed by a four-game losing streak. They subsequently won five games in a row once more, but they have since suffered two losses, including the one on Monday to Joel Embiid and the Sixers.
Unfortunately, New Orleans will have to get by without Zion Williamson for the upcoming several weeks. The rest of the group is left with little choice but to try and keep the ship afloat without him because it is still uncertain when he will be able to return.
It is also important to keep in mind that Brandon Ingram is still out with an injury, and there is no estimated date for when he will return. The Pels will undoubtedly be severely shorthanded in their upcoming games, it goes without saying.
