It’s nearly time for WWE to start stepping up their storylines leading into their biggest event of the year as the Road to WrestleMania is just around the corner. WrestleMania this year seems to be the biggest in a long time.
Since this is Triple H’s first WrestleMania under his full supervision, you can guarantee that he will go above and beyond to make it the largest spectacle imaginable. How can WrestleMania become bigger than it already is in terms of attention? Incorporate John Cena.
Cena will make a comeback on the final Smackdown of 2022, according to WWE. John Cena last entered a WWE ring in June of last year to commemorate his 20th anniversary. The aim is that this visit won’t be a one-time event again since WrestleMania is quickly approaching.
Nowadays, John Cena has to have everything fall into place for him to be available for WWE performances. Still, we’ll assume he’ll be around to develop a WrestleMania narrative. And how can a WrestleMania narrative be set out in the simplest way possible? The royal wrestle-off.
John Cena should declare that he will compete in the Royal Rumble match in order to win his 17th world championship when he returns to Smackdown. You can start a feud leading up to WrestleMania during that match. The issue is: Whom should John Cena challenge?
The logical answer would seem to be Austin’s Theory. Do you know Theory? He is the model for John Cena. The parallels are startling, as WWE had previously laid the groundwork for a conflict between Theory and Cena.
This might be a bout for the American championship or just a traditional “passing of the baton” contest between Theory and Cena. Consider the significance of this victory for Austin’s Theory. A victory over Cena would propel him to the next level, especially with this new persona and edgy side to him.
Intercontinental Champion Gunther immediately springs to mind as the following superstar. You already know the plot: John Cena seeks the one championship he has yet to capture. With the exception of being the Intercontinental and Grand Slam champions, Cena has achieved everything in the WWE.
This match would surely steal the show and boost both Gunther and Austin’s Theory. Naturally, Gunther should prevail in this contest to advance his main-event career and defeat one of the most dominant Intercontinental Champions in recent memory.
Logan Paul is the final professional wrestler I think has a shot at facing John Cena at WrestleMania. Consider how many people it would draw to the product. YouTuber turned WWE superstar versus WWE legend turned Hollywood actor.
If Logan Paul didn’t win you over in his match against Roman Reigns, he would win you over in his match against John Cena. Call me crazy, but I think Paul will triumph over John Cena in his fourth WWE contest. This would position Paul for more significant storylines in the future and if he starts appearing more frequently on WWE TV, a potential championship run.
Several other superstars might face John Cena at WrestleMania, but I think these three would make for the strongest matches and stories. The hope is that John Cena stays around for a while and competes in one significant match at WrestleMania rather than coming back and leaving again. We’re crossing our fingers for that.
