The Los Angeles Lakers have moved past their heartbreaking loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday. They immediately regained their courage by thrashing the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Wednesday night, 128-109. The victory served as just another indicator to the rest of the league that the Lakers are finally finding their groove and have seemingly recovered from a disastrous start to the 2022–23 NBA season.
When speaking to the media after the Lakers’ victory over the Blazers, Anthony Davis emphasized the turnaround the team is experiencing. Davis stated of the Lakers, “This team is starting to gel on both ends of the floor.”
Davis led the Lakers with 27 points on 9 of 17 field goal attempts. LeBron James led Los Angeles with 31 points while adding 12 rebounds and three blocks. In 33 minutes, LeBron added seven rebounds, eight assists, and a block to his already impressive stat line, helping Los Angeles, which has won six of its last eight games, to victory. The Lakers had a terrible 2-10 start to the season before going on that streak.
Before LA even approaches.500 for the first time this season, there is still much work to be done. They face a challenging road ahead as their first of six games against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks will be played on hostile soil.
