As one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ most important players, Bobby Portis had a key role in the team’s 2021 NBA championship victory. Since signing with the Bucks as a free agent in 2020, the eight-year veteran has enjoyed great seasons.
According to Wes Goldberg of Fansided.com, he has his sights set on a somewhat significant goal this season. The goal for Portis is to be nominated for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award and ultimately win it.
Portis declared, “I want to win Sixth Man of the Year. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. Since some of the teams I’ve been on and my job truly wasn’t as significant as it is on this team, I don’t think I had a realistic shot over the past couple of years [with previous teams].
I gained a lot of confidence in my skills and game over the summer, and when you combine that with the confidence I already had, I believe this is a goal that is extremely doable.
In addition to averaging 14.2 points and a career-high 10.0 rebounds per game this season, Bobby Portis has been shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from outside the arc.
Portis leads the NBA in rebounds for a player off the bench and ranks sixth in the NBA in points per game. There are a few great contenders for Sixth Man of the Year, and Portis deserves to be listed among them without a doubt.
