The Knicks’ story up to this point has been this. Although they make a good team, they generally don’t seem to be good enough. Kenny Smith, the host of NBA on TNT, seemed to concur with this. The former guard for the Houston Rockets made the audacious claim that the Knicks are just “another piece away from striving to be an elite club.”

The Knicks are a decent, reliable club. They engage in vigorous play. That’s all,” Barkley concluded. “… I was thinking, “LeBron, Giannis, KD,” when you mentioned they were a player away. Kenny, they’re not even close.
Barkley definitely disagrees with Kenny Smith’s assertion in this case regarding the Knicks. Chuck believed that they would only be a true danger in the East if they added LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, or Kevin Durant as the last piece.
Barkley even went one step further with his teasing by adding a couple more names to his list: Kareem, Wilt, Magic, and Bird. That is brutal.
