Giannis Antetokounmpo hasn’t let the Milwaukee Bucks’ surprising loss to the Houston Rockets on Sunday get to him; instead, he’s choosing to look on the bright side. He wants the team to take inspiration from the loss rather than becoming disheartened.
The Bucks were certain they would continue their winning streak against the faltering Rockets because they had just defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. Giannis and company had a strong start to the game and led by five points going into the fourth quarter, but they couldn’t hang on to their advantage. Just 13 points were scored by the Milwaukee team in the last round, thereby ending their chances of winning and allowing Houston to rally for a 97-92 triumph.
Giannis also didn’t play his best. Despite pulling down 18 rebounds during the game, he was unable to contribute offensively as he usually does, scoring only 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting.
The Greek Freak then reminded himself and the group that “you can’t skip steps.” The Bucks just need to “keep building” if they want to compete for championships again, he continued.

Indeed, as Giannis Antetokounmpo emphasized, the Bucks’ loss is not caused for alarm. They can only grow from it, and it’s crucial that they acknowledge the errors of their ways. Despite being in the lead, Milwaukee simply cannot let up in the fourth quarter and become less aggressive.

Following the defeat, the Bucks are still in second place in the East, and at 19-7, they still have some breathing room over the Cavaliers in third. The Golden State Warriors are their next opponent, giving them a chance to prove to everyone that they are still the same strong team.
