Wednesday night’s game between the Washington Wizards and the Brooklyn Nets included Kevin Durant. Ben Simmons continues to be sidelined with a knee ailment for the Nets. He has a left lateral upper calf injury, which will keep him out of at least the next three games. He had only recently begun to improve his offensive performance. That increases the burden that Durant must bear once more.
Durant was competent as usual. He scored a game-high 39 points in the end. He then recorded his 351st game with 30 or more points in his career. That put him eighth all-time, surpassing the late Jerry West. Oscar Robertson, who completed the feat 387 times, comes in second. At the very top of that list, there is still much work to be done.

Michael Jordan recorded 30 points the most with 562 attempts. It’s unlikely that Durant will ever reach that standard. Although he is 34 years old, he is still playing offensively at a high level. On the ball’s defensive side, he might have missed a step.
That has been the Nets’ biggest issue, and Simmons was supposed to assist with it. He was one of the top defenders in the game before suffering from injuries and mental health problems. At this moment, Kyrie Irving is erratic offensively and generally terrible on defense.
