Against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers achieved their finest and possibly most significant victory of the year. The Purple and Gold faithful are understandably excited about what might be the newest indication that the team has made progress.

The Bucks staying in striking distance for the majority of the night made it far from an easy task for the Lakers. Even though they have led the Milwaukee team and Giannis Antetokounmpo by as many as 14 points in the game, LeBron and co. just can’t seem to break away.

The Lakers’ victory, which improved their record to 9-12 on the year, is what matters most. They still have a lot of work to do, but they are unquestionably in a better position than they were when the season began and they went 0-5.

Magic Johnson was excited to watch his old team defeat the Bucks, who were even starting Khris Middleton’s first season. “What a performance by the Lakers,” he tweeted.

After the Lakers’ triumph, Nick Young, a former Lakers player from 2013 to 2017, issued a warning to the rest of the West, saying that the top two seeds in the conference wouldn’t want to play a seventh- or eighth-seeded LA club.

Other supporters were jubilant with the Lakers’ victory, especially since Anthony Davis outperformed Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Brow actually had a final game stat line of 44 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. The Greek Freak, on the other hand, finished with 40 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and just 1 block.

LeBron James also played in the game, and his 11 assists set a record.

There is definitely cause for celebration for the Lakers and their supporters. Beating a contender for the championship should do more for the team’s confidence than just improving their record. As they try to move up in the West standings, it might be the spark they need to really get things moving.
