The Dallas Mavericks were unable to lose three straight games without Luka Doncic’s intervention. He led the Mavericks to a 121-114 home victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. According to Mavs PR, Doncic put on another incredible effort against Oklahoma City, edging closer to LeBron James territory in terms of one specific scoring spree.
Luka Don i has also scored 20+ points in each of his first 25 games this year, marking the 15th-longest streak to begin a season in @NBA history.

The Mavs star only needs to score at least 20 points in each of his remaining eight games to tie LeBron James for the 12th spot on the all-time list and add 11 more to tie Bob Pettit for the 19th spot. Doncic still has a lot of work to do to make it to those positions on the list, but given how he has been performing this year and how heavily the Mavericks rely on him offensively, he can expect to extend his streak.
Against the defense of the Thunder, Doncic was successful. Even though Oklahoma employed a variety of defensive strategies to slow the Slovenian down, Doncic still managed to score 38 points while connecting on 13 of his 27 field goal attempts. He shot poorly from beyond the arc, making just three of ten 3-point tries, but he was nine out of ten in the charity stripe.
Doncic has been the Mavs’ top scorer thus far this season, averaging 33.1 points per contest on 50% shooting from the field. In each game, no other Mavericks player averages more than 16.8 points. Additionally, Doncic is shooting the ball from the field on almost ten more occasions than his teammates.
