On Friday night, Luke Doncic went off and helped the Dallas Mavericks defeat the Houston Rockets 112-106. Doncic made a tonne of history with a mind-blowing 50-point outburst, joining LeBron James in the elite club of young guns.
In 42 minutes of play, Luka ended with 50 points on 17 of 30 shooting, eight rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals. To top off a flawless performance, he also made 6 out of 12 long-range shots.
The Mavs star is now just the fourth player in NBA history to record two 50-point, five-rebound, five-assist games before turning 24 thanks to that stat-stuffing performance. Just in case you were curious, Luka is only 23 years old. He now shares this unique list with Jayson Tatum, Rick Barry, and LeBron James. Really good company, huh?
But more significantly, the Mavs managed to defeat the persistent Rockets. Dallas has already won back-to-back games and will attempt to make it three straight on Sunday when they take on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day.
For the Mavs this year, Luka Doncic has been nothing short of sensational. He had averages of 32.2 points on 49.4 percent shooting, 8.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game going into Friday’s victory.
Additionally, he is making 2.8 three-pointers per game, making him an absolutely unstoppable force on the court. It’s no surprise at this time that Doncic is one of the favorites to win the MVP award this season given his great play.
