The New York Knicks came extremely close to bolstering their squad with a true superstar last summer. They regrettably missed out on Donovan Mitchell, who is currently playing some really good basketball for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Knicks, on the other hand, have been left with a really strong team that is led by players who some would consider second-tier NBA stars.

Tom Thibodeau, the head coach of the New York Knicks, isn’t exactly happy with his team’s present circumstances, though. The seasoned shot-caller is pleased with Jalen Brunson’s contributions to the team’s uplift thus far and has nothing but positive things to say about Julius Randle and RJ Barrett as well:

The trouble is, according to Thibodeau, who was quoted by Anthony Rieber of Newsday, “I like the young men that we do have.” I’m observing Jalen’s performance in the fourth quarter; he’s among the top players there.

Jalen Brunson

I believe Julius gave us some significant moments. RJ had notable incidents. You, therefore, want the players you have to keep getting better as you look at them. I’m hoping we can make it there.

Coach Thibs has faith in the system. He doesn’t appear to have any other options at this point. On Wednesday, the Knicks played the Milwaukee Bucks, giving everyone a chance to see Giannis Antetokounmpo in action. After the game, Thibodeau expressed his admiration for the former MVP and explained how his circumstances with the Bucks are very different from those of the Knicks:

There are clearly many other ways to acquire a superstar, according to Thibodeau. Giannis was not where he is now when he was a rookie. So, he has transformed himself into that. They did a wonderful job of both developing him and surrounding him with the appropriate players.

Therefore, you naturally consider your own squad first and work to improve the players you already have, regardless of the possibilities you do receive. You consider trade options and free agency, but you also consider what your team might require in the way of additions, as well as how you compare to the other teams in your conference. As a result, it never ends and you are constantly working on it because you know you must do it every day.

As coach Thibs stated, the Knicks are constantly looking for ways to strengthen their group and are doing everything in their power to elevate this team. Adding Jalen Brunson this past summer was a crucial step in achieving this goal but despite the development of their Big 3,

It is also difficult to deny that New York still has a long way to go before it can be viewed as a serious contender in the East. Tom Thibodeau, the coach of the New York Knicks, praises the Jalen Brunson-led Big 3 despite the absence of a superstar on the level of Giannis.
