The Washington Wizards are in shambles. The club has lost six of its previous seven games after having a promising 10-7 record to open the 2022–23 campaign. With a current record of 11-13, the Wizards are just the 11th-best team in the Eastern Conference, and if the regular season ended right now, they wouldn’t even be eligible for the play-in round.
To make matters worse, Sunday’s loss to the Lakers saw Wizards standout Bradley Beal suffer an injury in the opening frame. He specifically strained his right hamstring.
But if Beal’s injury has taught us anything, it’s that it’s not too serious, according to Wes Unseld, head coach of the Wizards. The Athletic’s Washington beat writer Joshua Robbins tweeted the following update from Unseld Jr.
Bradley Beal’s hamstring issue is a low-grade strain, according to Wes Unseld Jr. The Wizards will be traveling to the West Coast starting on December 14, and Unseld is optimistic that Beal will be able to make a return at some point during that trip.

Beal, 29, has played in the NBA for 11 years, all of them with the Wizards. In 18 games this season, he has averaged a team-best of 22.9 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 0.6 blocks. Beal is shooting the ball extremely effectively, making 52.2% of his field goal attempts, by far the highest percentage of his career.
The information from Unseld Jr. is welcome news for Wizards supporters. People were initially concerned that Beal’s injury would force him to miss a significant amount of time, but it now appears that he’ll only be out for one to two weeks.
