Bennett packed the stat sheet as he led Georgia to its second consecutive national championship. He threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns in all during the course of the game. He added three carries for 39 rushing yards and two more touchdowns on the ground. Georgia has swiftly become one of the top programs in collegiate football, with Stetson Bennett as its captain.
Bennett racked up impressive stats in his debut year as Georgia’s starting quarterback last year. His final passing totals for the year were 2,862 yards, 29 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. On 56 total carries, he added 259 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Despite losing several offensive studs from the previous season, Bennett once again produced impressive numbers. He passed for 4,127 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions, including his effort in the National Championship. He gained 205 running yards and 10 rushing scores on the ground.
With his achievements over the previous two seasons, Stetson Bennett has elevated himself to the ranks of the greatest college football players. Bennett battled for playing time and even spent some time in junior college before carving his place into the annals of the game. And he does it in the grandest manner imaginable. With a 29-3 record as a starter and possibly the best credentials of any quarterback in the modern era, he leaves Georgia.
