Christian McCaffrey, a running back for the San Francisco 49ers, has been a significant addition to the 49er’s attack this year. Additionally, the former Stanford Cardinal demonstrated how important he has been on Sunday during the NFL playoffs.
On Sunday, McCaffrey scored a two-yard touchdown to put the 49ers ahead 16-9. With the touchdown, he has now scored in eight straight games. This is the longest streak a 49ers player has had since Terrell Owens, a wide receiver, in 1998.
The 49ers eventually won the match. McCaffrey carried the ball 10 times for 35 yards and a score. McCaffrey was the team’s top receiver but wasn’t necessarily the best. On eight targets, he made six catches for 22 yards.
In the game on Sunday, the 49ers never fell behind the Cowboys. In this game, McCaffrey’s touchdown was the only score for either team; all other points were scored by Robbie Gould, a kicker for San Francisco.
During the middle of the season, the 49ers acquired McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers in a trade. San Francisco sent Carolina four draught picks in exchange, including a second-round pick in 2023.
John Lynch, the general manager of the 49ers, wasn’t sure whether McCaffrey was required, but he is certainly pleased with the payoff. It hasn’t gone unnoticed that he has contributed to the 49ers’ offense being more dynamic.

Lynch recently told the media, “Christian’s become a better football player since coming here, and that’s kind of exciting to watch. Kyle’s (Shanahan) going to coach everyone hard, and when he makes remarks to Christian, Christian listens. It reveals a lot about his character.
This is the third time in four years that the 49ers have competed in the NFC Championship. They will play in the NFC championship game for the second time in a row when they face the Philadelphia Eagles the following week.
