Christian Watson, a rookie with the Green Bay Packers, is suddenly finding his rhythm and the end zone. Watson at least had a standout effort despite the Packers’ home loss to Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night.
On just four receptions and six targets, Watson finished the game with 48 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He was the only Packers player to score a touchdown throughout the contest, and Aaron Rodgers and the wide receiver from North Dakota State appeared to have a good rapport.
Christian Watson is performing well. According to ESPN Stats & Info, he is the only Packers rookie to score in the end zone twice in a row since the 1950s.
“Christian Watson caught his first three touchdown passes of his career against the Cowboys on Sunday, and he has since added two more this evening. He joins Max McGee (1954) as the only other rookie in Packers history with multiple receiving touchdowns in back-to-back contests.
Most likely, Christian Watson would exchange those touchdowns for a victory over the Titans. The Packers’ record currently stands at 4-7 after another defeat. Their 31-28 victory at home in Week 10 over the Dallas Cowboys appeared to be nothing more than a brief respite in light of Green Bay’s seven-game losing streak.
Given that the Packers are about to travel for Week 12, Watson will be under pressure to maintain his current form. The Packers’ path to the NFL playoffs just became more difficult as they will face the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 12—another challenging task.
