Jimmy Garoppolo, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, will miss the remainder of the campaign due to a severe left injury he sustained in Week 13’s victory over the Miami Dolphins. Given the likelihood that Garoppolo won’t have enough time to make a comeback this season, Brock Purdy will likely take over as the 49ers’ starting quarterback.
Purdy, a rookie out of the Iowa State Cyclones football program who will face off against Tom Brady, probably the greatest football player of all time, in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home, sounded more excited than nervous when he spoke about that approaching confrontation (via NBC Sports).
Yes, I believe it to be cool. I find it to be quite cool. That guy has been playing football for longer than I have. So it will be pretty awesome to make my first start against the GOAT. However, just like any other game, it has to be effective for me to execute my job and play football.
