Although the Kansas City Chiefs lost to Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals for the third time in a row, Patrick Mahomes stressed it wasn’t the only factor in their defeat.

The Bengals defeated the Chiefs, 27-24, in a repeat of the AFC Championship game from the previous year. Despite Kansas City’s lead of 24-17 entering the fourth quarter, Cincinnati was able to defeat their conference rivals thanks to a turnover and a missed field goal.

These errors, according to Mahomes, are “the things that kind of bite you in the end.” They definitely didn’t help themselves by starting slowly. The great quarterback, though, was careful to give credit where credit is due, emphasizing how much Burrow stepped up and how well the Bengals carried out their game plan.

They have a fantastic quarterback. He is a man who has achieved success in football, both in college and the NFL. He is someone who competes for all the way to the end. There are playmakers everywhere you look. They have a strong defense and are well-coached. And ultimately, they executed better,” Mahomes remarked of the humiliating loss to the Bengals, as quoted by Kansas Sports Tribune.

Joe Burrow completed 25 of his 31 throws for 286 yards and two touchdowns as he ended the game. He added a rushing touchdown just for good measure. Although he also scored on the run, Patrick Mahomes only had one passing touchdown on 16 of his 27 passes completed.

The Chiefs were ultimately destroyed by minor things, as Mahomes put it. Additionally, the Bengals’ improved execution made it more difficult for them to hold onto their lead.

The Chiefs are still 9-3 overall and have a commanding lead in the AFC West. Having stated that, despite the team’s difficulties against the Bengals, there is now no cause for concern.
