The winner of the transaction that sent Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos becomes more obvious as the 2022 NFL season progresses. The Seahawks have been one of the biggest surprises of the season; going into their Week 11 bye, they had a 6-4 record, good for first place in the NFC West.
All those victories were achieved in the team’s first season following the Wilson to Broncos deal. The Broncos, on the other hand, have a 3-7 record through 10 games and are currently last in the AFC West. The 22-16 overtime loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at home was their ninth defeat.
Even though Seattle is not set to play at all in Week 11, Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune said that the Seahawks appear to be among the greatest winners of the week, which is even more frustrating for the Broncos.
“As of today, the Seahawks held the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (from Denver). The Broncos then suffered another defeat. Saints (whose pick PHI holds), Raiders, and Saints all entered today with higher picks and worse records than DEN. Each won. The Seahawks move into first place (for now) after achieving nothing today.

Recall that the Seahawks acquired quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant, defensive end Shelby Harris, a second-round pick in 2023, a second-round pick in 2022, and a fifth-round pick in 2022 from the Broncos in exchange for Wilson and a 2022 fourth-round pick.
When Geno Smith replaces Wilson as the starter, the Seahawks succeed right away. In Week 12’s home game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Smith and the Seahawks will try to earn their seventh victory of the year. Of course, a victory over the Raiders would make it more difficult for Wilson and the Broncos in the AFC West.
