The anger toward Mac Jones and the New England Patriots only grows as their losses mount. Eli Apple, a Bengals defensive back, was attempting to make room for teammate Germaine Pratt, who was rushing to the goal zone with a fumble return when Jones seemed to throw an illegal low block on Apple.

Jones’s actions were not flagged by the referees, but the league administration was made aware of them. According to a source from Pro Football Focus, they will evaluate the play for potential disciplinary punishment and make a judgment on Monday or Tuesday.
The Bengals took an early 22-0 lead in the match, but the Patriots roared back and cut the gap to 22-18 before falling short and losing by that score. Jones allegedly broke the rules during the match, according to Apple, who also called it nasty. Naturally, I noticed it. He knocked me over.
Jones added that while watching the quarterback on film, he had seen Jones attempt other sleazy plays. At the conclusion of a slide earlier this season, Jones booted defensive back Jaquan Brisker of the Bears in the groin. In a 2021 play, he also appeared to twist Carolina defensive end Brian Burns’ ankle.

If Jones is disciplined, a fine would probably be the result. League rules provide a suspension, but the NFL seems unlikely to use that strategy given that he has already received punishment for prior infractions. 240 yards and 2 touchdowns were gained via Mac Jones’ 21 of 33 completions, with no interceptions. He received 4 sacks.
