For about a month, the Ottawa Senators have been on the market. Even before the sale procedure formally began, rumors about Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds purchasing the team circulated. The NHL has now had an opportunity to meet with the prospective buyer directly.
Reynolds and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman recently spoke about the possibility of selling the Senators organization. Bettman informed the reporters that the meeting left him with a good feeling.
We were quite impressed by Reynolds, said Bettman. “I believe that would be wonderful for the Senators and terrific for the league if we can find out a way to have him included,” said the analyst.
Reynolds’ investment in the Senators wouldn’t be his first venture into the world of sports. In 2020, the Deadpool star and fellow actor Rob McElhenney acquired the Welsh football team Wrexham AFC. The fifth division of the English football system, the Vanarama National League, is where Wrexham now competes.
The NHL would really like Ryan Reynolds to be part of the new Senators ownership group.
