A forward for Manchester United in the Premier League, Mason Will John Greenwood was born on October 1, 2001, in London, England.
At the age of 17, 353 days, Greenwood became the club’s youngest ever European competition goalscorer after scoring in a UEFA Europa League match against Astana in September 2019. In September 2020, he made his England debut in a UEFA Nations League match against Iceland.
After being arrested in January 2022 for allegedly raping and assaulting a woman, Greenwood was also charged with sexual assault and making death threats a short time later. Neither Greenwood’s club nor the national team has seen him train or play since that date.
Manchester United and England striker Mason Greenwood has been acquitted of all charges of assault, according to a statement released by England’s Football Association.
Liverpool and the EPL club’s pre-season trip will see him join the squad.
Greenwood was accused of abusing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend in a sexual manner.
A series of Instagram posts by Harriet Robson exposed the crime.
There were horrible photographs of her wounds attached, as well as audio recordings of Greenwood reportedly forcing himself on her.
United has put Greenwood on disciplinary leave since then.
Against Leeds United on August 14, 2021, Greenwood scored his first goal of the season in Manchester United’s 5–1 victory. Youngster Greenwood became the second teenager in Premier League history after Robbie Fowler scored in each of his team’s first three games of a season and helped United break the record for the most consecutive away matches undefeated in English football history with 28 on 29 August against Wolves.
It was interim manager Ralf Rangnick’s first Champions League game with the club when Greenwood netted his first goal in a 1–1 draw with BSC Young Boys on December 8th.
This season, Greenwood made six appearances for the England under-17 team and participated in the Algarve Tournament in Portugal, as part of the team.
England’s under-21 squad announced Greenwood’s inclusion on August 30, 2019, and on September 6, 2019, during England’s 3–2 qualification win against Turkey, the young midfielder made his debut as a 59th-minute substitute.
Against the Netherlands on November 19th, Greenwood scored his first goal for the U21s, equalizing in a match that England eventually lost 2–1.
Greenwood was selected for the first time in the senior England squad on August 25, 2020. It was on 5 September that he made his international debut for the first time, coming on at half-time in a UEFA Nations League A match against Iceland in which Iceland won 1–0. Following an investigation into accusations that Greenwood and teammate Phil Foden had met two women outside the hotel where the England squad was staying, Greenwood was pulled from the England squad on September 7th, along with teammate Foden.
