Agiye Hall

Head coach Steve Sarkisian unveiled the lineup for the big game against the No. 1 rated Alabama Crimson Tide on September 10. The majority of the positions returned with the same personnel from last week’s opener versus the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.

Even so, there were a few noteworthy shifts in the starting lineups from last week, most notably in the attacking second-string. The most noticeable alteration was the promotion of redshirt freshman wide receiver Agiye Hall, a recent transfer from Alabama.

According to the depth chart, Hall was ranked second at wide receiver behind starter Casey Cain, who was also a redshirt freshman. In addition, he moved up the depth chart and passed true freshman wide receiver Savion Red, who was listed as the Z-position backup to Cain just a week ago.

For this week’s game between the Longhorns and Crimson Tide, redshirt sophomore wide receiver Troy Omeire was shuffled to a different position. The once-coveted prospect is currently labeled as the team’s third-string x-wide receiver, behind standout sophomore Xavier Worthy and first-string true freshman Brenen Thompson.

Additionally, this may be the first time that Hall wears the burnt orange in a game setting. Hall played in the season opener last Saturday against ULM, although he didn’t play any defensive snaps. This week, he joined the team back in practice as well.

When Hall, who played for Saban and the Tide for a year, faces up against them, things might get heated. After playing for the University of Alabama for just one season, he decided to explore his transfer options during the offseason prior. Hall quickly found a new home with Sark and the Longhorns after entering the portal during the offseason.

Hall had four receptions for 72 yards (18.0 yards per catch) and zero receiving touchdowns in his lone season with Alabama.

Texas is coming into this game with Alabama with a perfect record of 1-0 (0-0 Big 12) thanks to their 52-10 home victory over ULM on September 3. Meanwhile, Alabama is undefeated (1-0, 1-0 SEC) after a 55-0 thrashing of Utah State Aggies in Tuscaloosa last weekend.
