However, a knee injury set him back in 2003 and he suffered his poorest season in 14 years in 2004. A successful 2005 saw Faxon return to the top of the PGA Tour money list after missing the cut four times in a row. His right knee ligaments were repaired on September 19, 2005, following surgery. Faxon made a triumphant comeback in 2006, winning over $500,000 in prize money.
