Jones became a free agent following his fifth season and signed a five-year, $82 million contract with the Miami Dolphins, making him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL at the time.

Jones Started the 2017 Regular Season as The Team’s Free Safety, with Strong Safety Jeff Heath Starting Beside Him. In Week 4’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams, he had a season-high seven solo tackles for the Cowboys.

He played a key role in the 33-19 victory over the Washington Redskins on October 29, 2017, making five tackles and breaking up a pass while also returning an interception by Kirk Cousins for a 21-yard score.
