Jason Mc Courty Retirement

On Friday, Jason McCourty announced his retirement from the NFL, ending a 13-year career as a cornerback in the league. McCourty moved from the lowest point in the NFL to the highest point after being picked by the Tennessee Titans in 2009.

Although he played for the winless Cleveland Browns in 2017, he went on to win the Super Bowl the following year while playing with his brother Devin and the New England Patriots.

In an Instagram post, Jason McCourty stated, “These past 13 seasons have been one hell of a trip. ” When I look back at my career, I’m most proud of how far I’ve come since 2009.”

During Super Bowl LIII, McCourty sprinted across the end zone to intercept a pass intended for wide receiver Brandin Cooks. A 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams followed for the New England Patriots.

McCourty was touched by the championship win, as well as the three seasons he spent on the field alongside his identical twin brother (44 games, 33 starts).

A famous exchange between the two took place after Arrowhead Stadium’s AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs ended in a 37-31 victory for the Patriots. In an emotional embrace, Devin exulted Jason, who had already won two Super Bowls “This is your first visit to the Super Bowl, so enjoy yourself! You’ve arrived at the Super Bowl.”

Jason Mc Courty Retirement

A free agent in 2021, Jason McCourty played in seven games with the Miami Dolphins before being placed on injured reserve for the season in October of the same year.

For his leadership abilities on and off the field, McCourty was a five-time captain. In his only season in Miami, he was chosen a team captain and received the Don Shula Leadership Award, although playing less than half of it.

At the end of 2018, McCourty and his brother were named NFLPA Community MVPs for raising $200,000 to support the Tackle Sickle Cell campaign, a cause they’ve been active in promoting throughout their professional lives. Walter Payton Man of the Year nominations was given to both men.

With 173 regular-season games played over 13 seasons, Jason McCourty finished with 18 interceptions, nine forced fumbles, and four touchdowns overall.
