Leicester City of the English Premier League signed Fofana to a five-year contract on October 2, 2020.

Saint-Étienne reportedly received a sum of up to £36.5 million in exchange for their player’s transfer. Leicester City’s supporters voted Fofana as the club’s Young Player of the Season on May 21, 2021.

Fofana broke his leg in a pre-season friendly against Villarreal on August 4, 2021, when Fer Nio tackled him. Leicester progressed to the next round of the Europa Conference League on a 3–2 aggregate score in Fofana’s first appearance after his injury on March 17, 2022, when he scored in a 2–1 defeat to Stade Rennais.
