College Football Odds

The Tulane Green Wave plays the Memphis Tigers. See our college football odds series for our prediction and choice for Memphis vs. Tulane. We now find out if the Tulane Green Wave can produce a truly exceptional book with a stunning finish and a huge stage for the university after they wrote one of the finer and more amazing stories of the 2022 college football season.

Under former head coach Tommy Bowden and offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez, Tulane went undefeated in 1998. However, the Green Wave was unable to participate in a prestigious bowl game. The Liberty Bowl was the best they could do.

Tulane has a good chance of winning both the Group of Five and the AAC championships this year. The Green Wave might potentially face Cincinnati in the AAC Championship Game if they can continue to win the games they are expected to win, of which this is one. If that match takes place, Tulane would have a chance to win the Group of Five titles and advance to the coveted Cotton Bowl.

In the New Year’s Six bowls, Tulane? Although unlikely, it is definitely feasible. The Green Wave and their coach Willie Fritz must defeat Memphis. This year, against Southern Mississippi, they made a mistake. If they want to compete for very significant rewards at the conclusion of the season, they cannot afford another one.

Prior to this game against Tulane, Memphis had a terrible two-game streak. The Tigers lost to Houston 33-32 in the waning moments after blowing a 26-7 lead in the third quarter at home. That should not have happened, but the Tigers collapsed and lost control of the situation as the game came to a close. Then Memphis fell to East Carolina in a four-overtime match, 47-45.

Memphis fell short of the Pirates by fewer than three points for the second year in a row. Memphis is caught in a vicious loop where it consistently makes just enough mistakes to lose.

Each Memphis game has a lot of positive aspects, but the negative ones exceed the positive ones by a small but significant amount. Memphis must play a full 60 minutes of football without the fatal lulls that have characterized the last two games if it hopes to salvage this 2022 season and make something of its season.

Why Memphis Could Cover the Spread

Houston, a team Tulane almost upset by three points earlier this season, was outscored by the Tigers 19 points to seize the lead. Memphis has had opportunities to win games but hasn’t come through. Memphis’ difference between victory and defeat is not that great. It seems like a smart bet to believe that Memphis can cover when you understand that Memphis is getting more than a touchdown on the spread in this game. Instead of covering, the Tigers’ true issue is actually winning the game.

Why Tulane Could Cover the Spread

A Memphis team coming off of a draining four-overtime game may lose confidence if the Green Wave can get off to a strong start in this game. Tulane may then take control of the game and put the chokehold on Memphis.

Final Memphis-Tulane Prediction & Pick

Tulane may triumph handily, but the Green Wave has often played competitively in the AAC. Memphis’ issue hasn’t been winning games; rather, it has been covering spreads as an underdog. At the very end, they’ll cover while being close. The real question is whether they triumph completely.

Final prediction and bet for Memphis-Tulane: Memphis +7.5
