Michael Pittman Jr Injury Update

Star wideout Michael Pittman missed Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars for the Indianapolis Colts, but he is expected back for Week 3. After suffering a quad injury, Pittman was unable to contribute to the Colts’ offense.

Head coach Frank Reich gave an upbeat report on Pittman before Week 3’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, via Zak Keefer, as the team continued its search for its first win of the season.

Reich stated of Pittman’s quad injury, “I think he made some nice improvement over the weekend.” The expectation is that Pittman will return to practice this week and be available to play against the Chiefs on Sunday.

Without Pittman on the field, Indianapolis was thoroughly dominated by the Jaguars. In Week 3 of the 2022 season, the Colts will look to get back on track after their humiliating 24-0 loss in Week 1. Even though it’ll be tough to score against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, having Pittman back in the lineup should help the offense get back on track after scoring zero points against the Jaguars.

Michael Pittman Jr Injury Update

For the second week in a row, Michael Pittman wasn’t the only wideout sidelined. Injuries also forced the benching of rookie Alec Pierce. With them out of commission, Ashton Dulin caught five passes for 79 yards, the most by any Colts receiver. Matt Ryan only had 16 of 30 passes successfully for 195 yards. His passing stats were terrible; he threw no touchdowns and was picked off three times.

A career-high 8 receptions for 123 yards was a game Pittman will long remember. In a 31-25 loss against the Baltimore Ravens, Pittman caught six passes for 89 yards and scored his second career touchdown.

Pittman reached 100 receiving yards for the third time in his career in Week 7’s Sunday Night Football game against the San Francisco 49ers, solidifying his place as a key offensive cog for the Colts.

He hauled in four passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, helping secure a 30-18 victory for the Colts. Pittman caught 10 of 15 targets for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns in a losing effort in overtime the following week against the Tennessee Titans.

All three of his offensive statistics (targets, receptions, and touchdowns) set new personal bests. Pittman was sent off the field in the third quarter of the Patriot’s win in Week 14 after getting into a scuffle with Patriots safety Kyle Dugger.

Pittman received 2022 Pro Bowl alternate status on December 23. Pittman became the sixth Colts pass receiver since 2000 to gain 1,000 receiving yards in a season in the Colts’ Week 17 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders.
