After Conor Benn’s rematch with Chris Eubank Jr. was postponed due to a failing drugs test, his trainer Tony Sims swore to support him.
Following Benn’s positive test for the prohibited chemical clomifene before his fight with Eubank Jr, which was set to take place on Saturday night, the boxing world has been in a state of chaos.
Although it can raise testosterone in men, clomifene is primarily used to treat female infertility in women.
The bout was declared “prohibited” by the British Boxing Board of Control, but the event’s promoters still attempted to go forward with the event by using the legal system.
However, the promoters gave in and declared that they would “officially postpone” the fight on Thursday afternoon.
Currently, Benn continues to insist in his innocence and issued a statement in which he stated that he is focused on clearing his name and that he is clear.
There have been many people who have questioned Benn, but one of his fans is his respected boxing trainer Sims, who posted his own comment on Instagram.
Sims stated, “After 26 years in boxing, a sport I love and have devoted my life to, I can declare with absolute certainty that I have never encountered or observed any athlete in my camp fail an anti-doping test, voluntary or mandatory, and I stand proud by that fact.

“Today has left me feeling utterly devastated as we announce a postponement of such a wonderful event, which I was honoured to be a part of.
“For the past seven years, Conor Benn and I have collaborated closely as I helped him grow both as a boxer and a person.
“In particular, we finished our 12-week camp with Nigel, who has lived with Conor day in and day out, from beginning to end.
“After having a lengthy conversation with Conor about the matter and listening to him, I support him as a friend and a coach.
“We’re determined to figure out what’s going on as a team, collaborating closely with Conor’s legal counsel in an effort to comprehend the significance of the ‘adverse finding’ and swiftly address this issue.
“TS, I appreciate your ongoing assistance.
