Since his flexibility at RB Leipzig makes him an apparent target for Europe’s elite sides, the 24-year-old has long been expected to join the French champions.
This has reportedly piqued the interest of Chelsea, who are looking for defensive reinforcements before the new season begins. It’s easy to see why the Blues are considering a late move for a player with the same versatility as former target Jules Kounde.
At the age of 17, Mukiele came into the first team at Stade Laval, where he began his professional career. On November 28, 2014, against Auxerre, he made his professional debut. At Laval, he was noticed and eventually moved to Montpellier HSC in a deal worth €1.35millon euros.
It cost €16 million to bring Mukiele to Leipzig, the German club. His contract has a five-year term. On July 26, 2018, he made his club debut in a Europa League qualifier against Häcken, which finished in a 4–0 victory for the team. A 1–1 draw with Fortuna Düsseldorf on September 2 marked his debut in the Bundesliga.
During France’s World Cup qualifying campaign in September of 2021, he received his first call-up to the senior squad of the country. Against Finland in a World Cup qualifier on September 7, 2021, he made his competitive debut. Léo Dubois was replaced by him in the 67th minute.
