Dodgers Injury Update: Mookie Betts Is Making Great Progress Toward a Return!

A recent report stated that Mookie Betts’ expected return to the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup would be delayed by two weeks, but he appears to have turned a corner and might be recalled from the 10-day injured list for the upcoming Colorado Rockies series.

Prior to Thursday’s game against the San Diego Padres, Betts was on the field at Dodger Stadium tossing and taking batting practice. Betts began his pre-game exercise by fielding grounders at second base and catching fly balls in the right field during his practice.

Dodgers Injury Update

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised Betts’ performance, saying, “Came out of it good. ” He’ll use the velocity machine on Friday, so I took hitting practice from one of our coaches today.” Played a little catch and got a few grounders.

“It was an extremely fruitful day.” As far as I know, he’s ahead of where we all expected him to be. I have no idea when he will be back. “However, I’m confident that by the end of the week, I’ll be able to return.”

June 15 collision with Cody Bellinger resulted in Betts breaking his right rib, which resulted in him missing the following two games. The Dodgers placed Betts on the injured list on June 19 after an MRI revealed the injury.

It was at that time that Betts said, “It’s what it is,” and he meant it. There is a good chance that you’ll be experiencing some discomfort as a result of the injury. As soon as that play was over, it started aching the next inning. To my naïve surprise, I believed it to be nothing more than a bruise.

A couple of days after deciding to push through with the game, “things simply got worse” Betts will play through the agony As close as they can go to reintroducing Mookie Betts to their lineup, he isn’t expected to be 100 percent healthy just yet.

As Roberts put it, “it’ll be as he tolerates it.” Doctors and trainers agree that this is one of those things that you’ll have to learn to live with. No matter what you do, it won’t get any worse.” Betts may play second base and as a designated hitter when he returns, but it is not a preference of his.
