Erik Ten Hag Transfer

Erik ten Hag is the manager of Manchester United, a Premier League club in the Netherlands. He is a former player and coach.

Ten Hag spent 13 years as a centre-back in the Dutch league, appearing for Twente (three times), De Graafschap, RKC Waalwijk, and Utrecht. With De Graafschap, he won the Eerste Divisie in 1990–91, and with Twente, he won the KNVB Cup in 2000–01.

Ten Hag has been named manager of the Eerste Divisie’s Go Ahead Eagles. From June 2013 to June 2015, he was the manager of Bayern Munich II, where he led his team to the Regionalliga Bayern. In the summer of 2015, Ten Hag was appointed as the sporting director and head coach of Utrecht. He was named head coach of Ajax in December 2017, and in 2019, he led his team to the semi-finals of the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1997.

Erik Ten Hag Transfer

According to ESPN, Manchester United manager Erik ten, Hag has prioritized the recruitment of a central midfielder as the first stage in his rebuilding effort, with the club focused on that position rather than a battle with Liverpool for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

Due to the departure of out-of-contract Edinson Cavani and the risks of relying on 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo for the bulk of the team’s goals, Ralf Rangnick, who served as interim manager at United during the second half of last season, said that adding a proven goalscorer to the squad this summer should be a key area of recruitment.

Despite the fact that Ten Hag wants United to improve their goalscoring output next season after scoring just 57 goals in 38 games this season, sources claim that the former Ajax coach believes that the current attacking options, which include Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, and Anthony Elanga, can significantly improve their collective strike rate.

United are willing to add to their attacking options if the appropriate player becomes available, but initial inquiries regarding Nunez resulted in Benfica quoting a £100 million price tag for the Uruguay international, which is considered excessive for a 22-year-old.

According to ESPN, Liverpool’s interest in the midfielder is conditional on the Portuguese club dropping their asking price, but while United is willing to keep an eye on Nunez’s situation, their immediate goal is to reinforce their midfield.

Ten Hag’s squad is seen as overly thin in midfield, with just Scott McTominay, Fred, and Donny van de Beek available to the new manager ahead of preseason training.

Attempts to persuade Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong to join United are still underway, with United aware that the Spanish club will let the Netherlands international depart for a cost of around £70 million.

United is also interested in Declan Rice of West Ham, but the London club’s £100 million valuation of the England international has spurred United to chase De Jong, who played for Ten Hag at Ajax.

Marc Overmars, a shareholder in the club, named Ten Hag as manager of Go Ahead Eagles in the Eerste Divisie in 2012. He led the Go Ahead Eagles to their first promotion in 17 years during his one season there.

He was the coach of Bayern Munich II from June 6, 2013, until Heiko Vogel took over in 2015. Ten Hag’s club won the Regionalliga Bayern during his tenure as manager.

Ten Hag then became the sporting director and head coach of Utrecht in the summer of 2015, and in his first season, he guided the club to fifth place. He improved FC Utrecht’s final rank to fourth in the 2016–17 season, securing a place in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.

Ten Hag was named manager of Manchester United on April 21, 2022, for the remainder of the 2021–22 season and until June 2025, with the option of a one-year extension. Ten Hag’s coaching staff was later reported to include Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren. Ten Hag left his Ajax job early on May 16, 2022, to begin his preparations as Manchester United manager for the 2022–23 season.
