Fraser Gerard Forster (born 17 March 1988) is an English goalkeeper who represents the English national team and Premier League club Southampton. On July 1, 2022, he will become a member of Tottenham Hotspur.

Forster began his career at Newcastle United, and he went on loan to Stockport County and Bristol Rovers for brief periods. He then went on loan to Norwich City, where he helped the club win League One and gain promotion to the Championship.

Forster went on loan to Celtic in 2010–11, where he helped them win the Scottish Cup. He stayed on loan for another season, winning the Scottish Premier League, before joining the squad permanently in 2012 for a £2.2 million transfer fee. Forster received a lot of praise for his work at Celtic, and he retains the record for the longest time without conceding a goal in Scotland’s top flight: 1,256 minutes.

Fraser Forster Transfer

Following the announcement of Ivan Persic’s transfer last week, Tottenham confirmed the signing of Fraser Forster in their second summer transfer window transaction. Forster’s current contract with Southampton is set to expire this summer, thus he will join N17 on a free transfer until 2024.

Hugo Lloris is Antonio Conte’s current first-choice goalkeeper, and he recently signed a new contract with the club. As a result, the 34-year-old will serve as a backup to the World Cup champion.

Since joining Spurs on loan from Atalanta last summer, Pierluigi Gollini has played in this position. The Italian, however, only made ten appearances across all competitions, and the Lilywhites announced his return to Atalanta last week.

Sam Johnstone was expected to be the Lilywhites’ backup goalkeeper not long ago. However, in recent weeks, the focus has shifted to Forster, and it appears that a deal is nearing completion.

It didn’t take long for the transfer to be completed when the 29-year-links old’s were moved to the now-former Southampton goalkeeper, and Forster had his medical at Tottenham Hotspur Way late last month.

Tottenham said last month that ENIC would invest £150 million in the club, but the agreement for Forster will cost the club nothing. This is good news for both the club and Conte, as he now has a backup plan in case Lloris gets hurt next season.

Forster is a seasoned goalkeeper with over 100 Premier League appearances. Conte and Fabio Paratici were attracted to him because of his experience and the fact that he was available on a free transfer.

This summer, it is expected that the Italians would make at least six new additions. This will not only give depth to Tottenham’s squad, but it will also improve the quality of the team he already has.

As a result, Forster is an excellent second acquisition in what should be an exciting summer in N17.
