Draymond Green Contract

The Warriors’ front management will have to make important decisions about the futures of four key players in the next few years as they prolong their dynasty in the Bay Area. Several high-priced contract extensions are in the works for Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Jordan Poole soon.

According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson II on Wednesday, citing sources, offering offers to all four players “simply isn’t viable for the business” despite the fact that there is no restriction in the collective bargaining agreement prohibiting Golden State from doing so.

On top of that, he reportedly wants a max contract extension, which the Warriors have “no plans” of giving him. Green has two years left on his current contract (the other is a player option). Over the following two seasons, Thompson is owed $40.6 million in salary and $43.2 million in salary to Thompson.

Wiggins is in the final year of his contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves, while Jordan Poole will be a restricted free agent next summer if he doesn’t sign a rookie-scale extension by Oct. 17.

Taking care of the salaries of all four players over the next year will push Golden State’s payroll way above what was expected following the passage of the luxury tax legislation.

As of last season, the Warriors had the highest-ever NBA salary of $362 million. In July, Warriors owner Joe Lacob told The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami that the Warriors’ payroll at $400 or $500 million a season is not feasible.

To put it another way: Lacob said, “Those statistics are not at all possible.” “In short, they aren’t what they appear to be. I’ve already gotten myself into some hot water with the rest of the team. We’re in hot water because of where we are right now.

Let me inform you, Vegas, that I’ll be attending the NBA Board of Governors meeting on Tuesday. They’re not pleased. The problem isn’t limited to us. The luxury tax is being applied to a growing number of other organizations as well.

As far as the league is concerned, we appear to have punched a hole in the system. There is a strong desire on their part to prevent this from occurring.”

 Draymond Green Contract

John Havlicek of the Boston Celtics is tied for 15th place on the all-time career triple-double list with Green’s 31st triple-double of the season in the 113–98 win over the Sacramento Kings.

Reserve guard Gerald Green was announced as an NBA All-Star Game participant on February 3, 2022. It was his first All-Star appearance since 2018 and his fourth overall. Due to a back issue, Green was sidelined for 31 games from January to March.

That’s when the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award was first touted as a possibility for him. After just 46 games, Green was named to his sixth All-NBA Defensive Team, where he finished on the second team.

His fourth NBA title came in the 2022 Finals after the Warriors defeated the Celtics in six games and progressed to the NBA Finals. When it came time for the Finals to wrap up, Green had a near triple-double in Game 6, going for a game-high 24 points, 12 boards, 8 assists, two steals, and two blocks in the 103–90 victory.

Green was a member of the United States men’s basketball team that competed at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China. Green averaged 8.6 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 46.3 percent for the USA, which finished the tournament in sixth place.

Green was named to the 2016 Olympic team for the United States in June of that year. A gold medal-winning player for USA Basketball, he averaged 19.9 points per game, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in eight games in Rio.
